This comes after a period of anticipation marked by Musk’s repeated forecasts since 2019 regarding the impending FDA approval.
Earlier in 2022, Neuralink faced regulatory challenges when the FDA initially declined the company’s application, citing safety concerns about the groundbreaking implant. Determined to overcome this hurdle, Neuralink worked diligently to address the FDA’s apprehensions, setting the stage for this recent approval.
In a recent announcement, Neuralink expressed gratitude and excitement for this development, stating, “This is the result of incredible work by the Neuralink team in close collaboration with the FDA. It represents an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many people.”
Despite this considerable achievement, Neuralink clarified that they are not yet ready to kickstart the clinical trial. The primary aim of Neuralink is to design and develop a brain implant that could potentially empower paralyzed individuals to walk again and alleviate other neurological conditions.
The FDA has yet to comment on this landmark development for Neuralink.
