Ambassador programs: An alternative method of making money in crypto

In addition to developing an internal marketing campaign, many projects in the crypto space offer ambassador programs as part of their promotional strategy. As it is someone from the community being the ambassador, they do it to receive word-of-mouth advertising and appear more humanized to followers.

This is a special type of promotion that can be very profitable to its ambassadors. And unlike other ways to make an earning in crypto, this one is appealing because it requires no monetary investment of your own.

So, if this sounds interesting, read on to learn what brand ambassadors exactly do, how to find the right crypto projects, how much you can make, and more.

Spreading the word and making bank

As a crypto brand’s ambassador, your role is to spread awareness about the project’s benefits and provide any information potential buyers might need. In short, you want to reach a new audience and get paid for it in return.

The job

For this purpose, you’ll need to:

  1. Create memes, infographics, videos, articles, and other promotional materials.
  2. Assist in moderating the official chats, usually on Telegram or Discord, where crypto enthusiasts convene in great numbers.
  3. Organize events where they’ll gather in person to learn more about the brand.

If English is not your native tongue, the brand will have a special use for you, as you can translate official promo materials, set up chats in your native language, and organize meetings in your local area. Crypto is an international form of currency, and so are its fanbases.

The earnings

Projects may pay right away with their own crypto coin, promise to do so further down the line, or offer volunteer work strictly – in some cases, those may also provide monetary rewards in the future.

Giving precise numbers as to what those tokens will get you is impossible, as it all depends on the project. You may make as low as $100 monthly or $10,000 in just a few hours. This is why initial project research is essential.

Researching ambassador programs

Project investors

Venture capital firms, investment funds, or individual investors with a solid track record are excellent indicators of how much you’ll make.

If you see that the likes of Sequoia, Polychain, or a16z are involved, then it’s a good bet of a project’s success. Serious players tend to invest in ideas that have the potential of doing very well, and those tokens you receive could turn out to be quite valuable.

So, discover who the investors are, and check their backgrounds and investment history.

Project roadmap and team

If the roadmap seems realistically planned and the team is meeting milestones, it gives an impression of a reliable project, having a responsible team behind it that knows what’s it doing.

Even if you haven’t heard of anyone working on the team, it’s their results that matter.

Project’s tokenomics

Even if there’s no mention of actual rewards for ambassadors, there’s a high likelihood of receiving payment if the tokenomics state that a portion of the overall tokens will go toward community development.

Tokenomics will also tell you when a project plans the release of its token. And those projects that haven’t yet released their crypto tend to pay the ambassadors who supported them earlier generously once they do release it. In fact, these opportunities usually turn out to be the most profitable ones.

Finding crypto projects

Apart from good old Google, here are some other effective places to search for potentially lucrative projects:

  • DropsEarn. A great resource website compiling the latest ambassador programs, along with some basic info about each.
  • Twitter. Simply type in #ambassador program and check out the projects.
  • Medium. It’s initially hard to locate the programs here, but as you read more such articles, the feed will start to present you with new useful ones.
  • Messari. An excellent tool to see where profitable investors have put their money and find promising projects that are yet to launch their ambassador programs; they will do so eventually, and so you can be among the first to join and avoid competitors.

Getting accepted

Once you’ve found them, simply filling out the form will be enough to get accepted in some cases. This is usually the case with projects that just launched their ambassador programs. For others, though, you’ll need to:

  • Use the relevant Telegram and Discord chats actively to be noticed by the team.
  • On the same channels, showcase your work pertaining to the project. If you’re any good at it, in most cases, the enthusiasm you’ve demonstrated on the channels will be enough to land you the job.
  • Work on your social media profiles. Specify that you’re a crypto brand ambassador, preferably set up the profiles in one design, and name the projects you’re part of.

A risky but rewarding profession

We should stress that with crypto ambassador programs, there’s no guarantee of making it big, or at all in some cases. Still, with enough research and due diligence, you’re increasing your chances greatly, and you will make a solid earning more often than not.

And for those who also genuinely admire the projects they’re promoting, this could be just the job they’ve been craving for.
