As per data from Glassnode, the tally of Bitcoin (BTC) wallet addresses holding a minimum of one entire BTC has now surpassed the one-million mark. This notable achievement was recorded on May 13th.
Despite the significant decrease in Bitcoin’s price over the past year, there has been substantial growth in the number of wallet addresses holding at least one Bitcoin – approximately 190,000. The beginning of this rise was observed in February 2022, as Bitcoin’s price descended from its November 2021 highs.
While the “one million” figure marks a new milestone, it’s important to note that a single Bitcoin wallet address does not necessarily correspond to one individual.
Numerous cryptocurrency investors maintain multiple Bitcoin addresses, and some addresses are owned by significant institutions like cryptocurrency exchanges and investment firms, which typically hold large amounts of Bitcoin.
Data from CoinGlass, a crypto analytics provider, shows that out of the approximately 19 million Bitcoin currently circulating, about 1.89 million BTC, valued at $50.7 billion, are held on major centralized exchanges such as Binance and Coinbase.
