Pellegrino emphasized the value of the data collected through this initiative, stating that it would play a crucial role in identifying other users who might use similar methods or software to engage in sybil activities. “My intuition is that a confirmed data set of 100,000+ is going to be extremely powerful in finding others either using the same software or similar methodologies,” he noted.

Following the completion of a snapshot on May 1, which marked the final point for transactions to count towards eligibility for the airdrop, the company discovered that 6 million unique wallet addresses had interacted with LayerZero. With the self-reporting deadline set for two weeks following the snapshot, the initiative was a critical step in curbing sybil activity and ensuring a fair distribution process.
